We are looking for a Field Service Engineer (m/f/d) based at our sister company’s office in Torrance, CA, alternatively near a major airport in the western US.
Job description
- Commission our 3D printers in the Americas including unpacking, assembly, laser alignment, tuning and testing
- Train our customers and provide technical support
- Maintain and service our customers’ 3D printers remotely as well as in the field
- Act as an agent for bug reports and feature requests between our customers and our product development department
- Strengthen the relationship with our customers
- Contribute to continuous improvement of company processes and procedures
- This position includes about 40% travel mainly within US and occasionally worldwide
Your profile
- Successfully completed studies with a strong technological background
- Practical experience with delicate mechanics or optical beam path alignment
- Ability to work reliably and independently
- Strong presentation skills and the drive to transfer knowledge
- Excellent command of spoken and written English
- Eagerness to travel
- Cultural sensitivity in customer relations
- You consider yourself a team player with an honest and professional working attitude
- You are currently located in the United States and have the legal authorization to work on a full-time basis
Our offer
As part of our international service team, you will commission our state-of-the-art 3D printers, visit renowned universities, research institutes and companies. You will gather an increasing understanding of the optics, the mechanics and the electrical components of the system and proficiently maintain, repair and optimize the devices in the field. You can either choose to be based at our sister company's office in Torrance, or you work at home office at maximum 30min away from a major airport in the vicinity of the west coast.
During your training you will initially spend about three months in Germany. After that, you will be accompanied for a few field trips until you have become sufficiently independent to go solo.
This position includes the chance to stay in touch with the forefront of scientific research in the fields of life-sciences, photonics, material science, micro-optics, micro-robotics and many more.
